The report outlines diverse covert attempts aimed at manipulating political conversations globally.
TikTok released its inaugural report on efforts to combat covert influence operations, identifying 15 campaigns. These included a small-scale operation from China promoting Chinese policy and culture, and another amplifying pro-Iranian narratives.
TikTok also uncovered networks targeting various political discourses in countries like Bangladesh, Venezuela, and Indonesia. While Meta issues quarterly reports on adversarial threats, TikTok’s report raises concerns about social media manipulation in upcoming elections worldwide. Notably, TikTok did not directly implicate the Chinese government in these operations.
