Singer Cassie, also known as Casandra Ventura, has made her first public statement since a video surfaced showing rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs assaulting her. She revealed that the domestic violence she experienced “broke me down to someone I never thought I would become.” The 2016 attack video was released by CNN last week. Cassie had accused her ex-boyfriend and producer of assault in a legal action last year.

Diddy apologized in an Instagram video, expressing disgust at his actions and mentioning that he sought professional help and therapy. In her Instagram post, Cassie thanked her supporters, highlighting the importance of believing victims and acknowledging that her healing journey is ongoing.

Cassie settled a lawsuit against Combs last November for an undisclosed sum, accusing him of rape and sexual trafficking. Combs’ lawyer stated the settlement was not an admission of wrongdoing. Cassie’s lawyer criticized Diddy’s apology as self-centered. Additionally, earlier this week, a model accused Combs of drugging and sexually assaulting her in 2003. Federal authorities recently raided his homes in Los Angeles and Miami in connection with a human trafficking investigation.
