The 2024 Summer Olympics, also known as Paris 2024 or the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad, are set to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024, in France.
Paris will serve as the main host city, with 16 other cities across Metropolitan France and a subsite in Tahiti, part of French Polynesia, participating in the event. The decision to award Paris the Games was made at the 131st IOC Session in Lima, Peru, on September 13, 2017. This will be Paris’ third time hosting the Summer Olympics, following its previous hosting duties in 1900 and 1924, making it the second city after London to host the Summer Olympics three times.

The 2024 Olympics will coincide with the centenary of the 1924 Paris Games and mark the sixth Olympic Games hosted by France. Notably, Paris 2024 will introduce breakdancing as an Olympic event and will be the last Olympics during Thomas Bach’s tenure as IOC President. Additionally, it will be the first Olympics to have an equal number of male and female athletes. The estimated cost for the Games is €8.3 billion.
