Four girls, aged 9 to 17, sustained injuries in what appears to be an arbitrary assault at a movie theater in Braintree, Massachusetts, as reported by authorities on Saturday.
The Braintree Police Department stated that a suspect was apprehended following a car pursuit that concluded in Sandwich, located on Cape Cod, approximately 45 miles south of Braintree. The identity of the suspect remains undisclosed.
According to Braintree police, the incident at the AMC Braintree 10 theater complex was characterized as unprovoked. The perpetrator allegedly bypassed the ticket counter and entered a theater without purchasing a ticket. Inside, they encountered the four girls, and without warning, initiated an attack by stabbing them.
The victims were transported to Boston-area hospitals with injuries deemed non-life-threatening; however, their precise conditions remain unspecified. Police investigators utilized security footage and other evidence to identify a black SUV utilized by the assailant. Additionally, they obtained a license plate number and disseminated it to local authorities.
The identified vehicle was involved in a pursuit conducted by the Massachusetts State Police, culminating in a collision and subsequent arrest of the suspect. It remains unclear whether the suspect sustained injuries during the crash.
